Ruislip Lido Car Park
(Shared with Waters Edge Pub)

This is a community web site.

All you could ever wish to know about how to Park and visit Ruislip Lido.

We are NOT Ruislip Lido, we are NOT the Council, we have nothing to do with the car parks or the tickets you might get affixed to your car either by the traffic wardens or through the post from the pub car park managers.

There are basically THREE car parks at Ruislip Lido
where the details of each are below

(Correct January 2018, E & O.E.)

Car Park 1 - Hillingdon First Card Holders Only

There may be more up to date information on THIS PAGE

There is a Controlled Parking Zone in the roads near the Lido.
Read all about it here

Residents of Hillingdon who wish to park at the Lido can do so for FREE. All you have to do is present your card at the machine and display your ticket.

You must ALWAYS get a ticket. Although the machine has a coin slot there is NO option to pay by cash. If you are not a Hillingdon First Card holder you MUST use the other car park for the Lido.

This car park is furthest away from what one might deem the "Main Entrance" and the pub.

This car park is locked at 9 p.m.

Car Park 2 - Hillingdon First Card Holders AND "Public"

This is what was the old main car park and is more or less opposite the entrance and the pub. Hillingdon First Card holders can park in this car park for free, and again you must display a ticket.

If you do not have a Hillingdon First Card then the price to park for "off season" is £3.50 for a day, or £5 for a day in the "summer". There are no short term tickets available (or are there? See below).

This car park is locked at 9 p.m.

Car Park 3 - The Waters Edge Pub
(and a neat trick!)

This is to the left as you enter the main car park and there is an ANPR camera that gets a snapshot of your number plate as you drive in.

My understanding is you have to give your registration number in at the bar or enter it in to a tablet pc there and you then get up to three hours free parking (but check how long exactly with the pub) You have to at least buy a drink.

DO NOT DRIVE IN THIS CAR PARK UNLESS YOU PLAN TO VISIT THE PUB EVEN WHEN THE PUB IS CLOSED as you will get a ticket if you do not, or can not, give your car registration number in over the bar.

If you have a Hillingdon First Card it is suggested that you park in one of the main car parks then the two hour curfew would not apply.

Hillingdon First Tickets are NOT valid for parking
in the Waters Edge section of the car park.

A Neat Trick:

Suppose you do NOT have a Hillingdon First Card and only want to stay for a short period and do not want to pay the full price to park. Park in the Waters Edge section of the car park and pop in to the pub, give your registration number in over the bar and buy yourself a (soft?) drink or a tea/coffee. You have now got a MAXIMUM of three hours parking for the cost of your drink, (but check the exact time allowance at the venue itself).

Waters Edge car park signage

Above is the entrance to the Waters Edge car park and you should not go in here AT ALL unless you are visiting the pub. There is a camera that gets your registration number and unless you give it in over the bar you will get a ticket in the post

WARNING: Always display a ticket and pay the correct price (as required). The traffic wardens patrol often. These pictures were taken on 13th January 2018 at around 1300 hours and there was a warden checking all the cars as I took them.

Do NOT park in the surrounding streets on yellow lines or you WILL get a ticket. Do NOT park in Ducks Hill Road as you go up the hill or you WILL get a ticket. Do NOT park in the Six Bells car park up Ducks Hill Road. You can no longer park in the Crematorium Car Park.

Extra Weekend Car Parking:

Before the car parks were all changed and extended there were signs directing you to an overflow car park option by using the car park at Breakspear Crematorium.

Now, although those signs have been removed parking at the Crematorium may well still be possible, and whilst during the week when there are services on this could be considered as disrespectful at weekends the car parks are open there are no services held so you could use it (but do check local signage there).

To get to the crematorium exit Reservoir Road where the Lido is and turn left, then right at the mini roundabout after about 100 yards. The main entrance to the Crematorium is immediately on the right but DO NOT ENTER HERE instead go along the road about 200 yards and you will see a second entrance to it on the right, Enter here and the car park is just through the gates. Please be aware this car park is locked after 6 p.m.

OR..... Exit Reservoir Road and turn left. After about 1/2 mile turn left in to Park Avenue (7' width restriction) and then second left in to Sherwood Avenue. Park somewhere here and opposite the end of Sherwood Avenue is a footpath leading to the woods and you can walk down the hill and get in at the far side of the Lido. You will need decent shoes for the walk, as it could be a bit muddy at times! Total walk about 750 yards.

Operator Hillingdon Council/Euro Car Parks
Charge Yes unless you have a Hillingdon First Card
How much Basically FREE if you have a Hillingdon First Card (you MUST get a ticket however using your card) otherwise a charge of up to £5 is made. All tickets issued are whole day tickets. There is no short term option (but see the "Neat Trick" above).
Access Turn down Reservoir Road off Ducks Hill Road almost opposite the fire station.
General comments Council page with more information
Will I find a space? VERY busy at weekends, in fact potentially full if the weather is good on most days but OK during the week...generally.
